Modern Times’ Leisuretown is OC’s First Brewery with a Swanky Pool

July 31, 2020 ― Anaheim, CA ― Eager Orange County craft beer enthusiasts are elated as Modern Times, the San Diego famed brewery, plunges into the heart of Anaheim. Modern Times, CFO, Chris Sarette, proudly describes the latest 33,000-square-foot Modern Times luxury island paradise, which opened on July 28, 2020. "After four years of construction and restoration, we're thrilled to open Leisuretown to the public. Leisuretown is Modern Times' eighth and certainly most unique retail project -- home to a full-scale production brewery, kitchen, breathtaking beer garden, to-go mini mart, Craftsman event space, and a swanky swimming pool.” He teases, “Yes, you read that right! We look forward to welcoming crowds in the future… when they're appropriate again." For now, due to distancing requirements, small numbers are welcome to enjoy the backyard resort.

Explore the Mid-Century Modern vibes while lounging poolside, with a bird’s eye view on the upper deck of a shaded patio, or among the sunflower yellow umbrellas in the beer garden. Visitors to Leisuretown can choose from over 70 Modern Times beers and ciders, house-roasted coffees, and even a carefully curated assortment of wines.

The brewery’s chef is cooking up mouth-watering, plant-based menu items, such as the Cowboy Burger, which may require jaw unhinging to take in all the crispy, savory, juicy layers of goodness in a single bite. With a Cowboy in one hand a deliciously refreshing LICE (lime & salt lager) in the other, Anaheim resident and revered food & beverage journalist, Gregory Nagel of, gushes. “Its beef-ish Beyond patty, crispy house pickles, perfectly fried onion rings, and a coconut-based cheese that actually oozes and tastes like the real deal make this burger a new fave.”

The tropically colored wonderland is an adaptive reuse of a historic warehouse, as well as a 1911 Craftsman house. During a sneak peek reception of the final draft of Leisuretown, Shaheen Sadeghi, the visionary behind The LAB Anti-Mall (Little American Businesses), shared his heartfelt words. “It is an amazing feeling. The Modern Times project is an extension of preserving and supporting our history and culture here in Anaheim. Our firm has been involved in restoration projects throughout Downtown Anaheim and the birth of the Packing District. Each time we have done so, the appreciation, support and enthusiasm from the community has been fantastic.”

Sadeghi’s successful restorations of historic Anaheim landmarks also include the Packard Building (1925), The MAKE building (1917), and The Packing House (1919), listed in 2015 on the National Registry of Historic Places. Sadeghi humbly acknowledges that these innovative architectural revivals are a team effort. “Mostly, I am grateful to the City of Anaheim, John Woodhead, and the Community & Economic Development team for believing in our vision and supporting these projects over the years. This will be a great addition to the Packing District for the community to enjoy for years to come.”

Before heading to Leisuretown, guests are encouraged to check the website for reservations, safety guidelines, hours, parking, menus and updates on the official opening of the pool.
