C&R Productions, in partnership with the Chance Theater of Anaheim, will present “Blackbird” by David Harrower for 10 performances in June. This provocative drama, directed by Christa Havenhill, features Ron Hastings as Ray and Dakota Wolf as Una.
Actors in the 90-minute play will perform on the Fyda-Mar Stage, an intimate 50-seat venue.
After years in prison, Ray, now 56, has a new identity and has made a new life for himself. Upon seeing a photo of Ray in a magazine, Una, now 27, arrives unannounced at his office. Guilt, rage and raw emotions run high as they recollect the passionate relationship they had 15 years ago, when she was 12-years-old and he was 40.
The play never shies away from the brutal truth of this illegal, unconventional love. It contains strong language and other potentially triggering content and is best suited for mature audiences.
“Blackbird” marks the producing debut for theatre veterans Christa Havenhill and Ron Hastings, known as C&R Productions.
It will include a talkback after each performance, facilitated by Leah Zimmerman, also serving as assistant director. Sisters Catherine and Elizabeth Last will alternate playing the role of the girl.
The Chance Theater is at the Bette Aitken theater arts Center, 5522 E. La Palma Ave., Anaheim.
Tickets: $39. Call (888) 455-4212 or visit the Chance website.
