Anaheim, CA – April 1st, 2024 – Anaheim Marriott announced today a partnership with Newlight Technologies, Inc. (Newlight) to use foodware made with AirCarbon to help improve its environmental footprint. AirCarbon is a biomaterial made from greenhouse gas in Huntington Beach, California, and is currently being used to help companies create more sustainable products in industries ranging from foodware to fashion.
Newlight uses naturally-occurring microorganisms from California that consume greenhouse gas as food and convert it into AirCarbon. AirCarbon is an FDA food contact-approved material that has been certified as compostable by the Biodegradable Products Institute, and the carbon footprint of AirCarbon is third-party calculated and certified by SCS Global Services per ISO 14044:2006 and The Carbon Trust per PAS 2050:2011. AirCarbon can be melted into a range of forms, from fibers and sheets to solid shapes, including foodware products, turning greenhouse gas into a raw material for production.
In April, AirCarbon straws will be featured with the Anaheim Marriott’s seasonal Sustainable Cocktail, celebrating sustainability for Earth Month.
The nFuse Eco-Sustainable Cocktail, named the “Verde Vida,” is made up of Patron Tequila, thyme nfused honey syrup, lemon, lime, and fever tree’s cucumber tonic, which is certified carbon neutral by The Carbon Trust. This creative mix of sustainable ingredients offers a refreshing treat made with clean ingredients.
