California Jammin’ ’76 – Sol Societe
The 2026 California Jammin’ series is sponsored by SPA Education and Music Foundation. Hosted on select summer nights in the Carnegie Plaza, this 3-part series highlights sounds of the 70s and commemorates America’s Bicentennial with local artists that define our unique musical region. Our July 10 concert highlights Sol Societe, comprised of members from Southern California’s indie/psych music scene. Sol Societe began life as an outlet for singer/songrwriter/guitarist Victor Salazar’s songs that didn’t fit neatly into his previous garage rock band. The 60s/70s influences are still there. But, instead of snotty teenage garage/punk, he mines the often overlooked psych tinged sunshine pop vein. Combined with a love of global grooves, the songs are at once familiar and startlingly original; like new furniture made from seasoned wood. Engaging, entertaining, and original, Sol Societe are a band to follow with great interest. California Jammin’ ’76 features free, outdoor performances in the Carnegie plaza. Gates open at 6:00 PM, with the show starting at 6:30 PM. The public are invited to bring lawn chairs and picnic dinners (or grab dinner to go at one of the restaurants on Center Street Promenade) to the show. Kids enjoy free arts and crafts. Beer, wine, and concessions are available for purchase. Muzeo members get free popcorn! Not a member, sign up now and receive a year of benefits!
