ANAHEIM, CA (July 1, 2022) – Zabon Ramen, a unique ramen restaurant, originating in Japan, opened their second North American location on July 1, 2022, within the historic Anaheim Packing District - home of Orange County's original food hall. The first U.S. Zabon Ramen opened in Torrance in 2016 and has quickly become one of the most popular ramen spots in Southern California.

Zabon Ramen, which originated in the Kagoshima-Prefecture of Kyushu Island, attracts a loyal following of ramen enthusiasts seeking a more uncommon soup base, combining Tonkotsu (pork) broth, chicken broth and soy sauce. What also sets Zabon apart from other popular So Cal ramen destinations is a generous mound of fresh vegetables and melt-in-your-mouth charred chashu (Japanese braised pork belly).

“I want to make delicious ramen noodles,” declared founder, Tetsuro Ishino.

The savory seed was planted with this single-minded aspiration that led Ishino to pioneer his first store in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan, in 1978. It quickly grew to become an iconic stop for hungry late-night crowds after opening another location in the hip city of Roppongi, famous in Tokyo for its lively nightlife district.

Fast forward to 2022, the flagship Torrance store still honors the original, authentic, Japanese Zabon Ramen recipe while introducing other popular menu items such as Miso Spicy Ramen, Vegan Ramen, and appetizer items to meet the market demand while maintaining the authenticity of Japanese food culture. The newest location in Anaheim will differ from its Torrence sister by adding sushi rolls to its menu.

Co-founder, Tatsuya Yabuuchi, shared, “As we have carefully prepared ourselves to expand our presence here in the U.S., we have always considered Orange County to be the ideal second-store location, and we feel that the Anaheim Packing District will be a perfect place for our expansion plan.”
