New Program Inspires High School Students to Pursue Careers in Tourism & Hospitality
Anaheim, CA (Feb. 6, 2024) – Visit Anaheim, the official destination marketing organization (DMO) for Anaheim, announced the launch of Workforce Development, a program for local high school students to learn about diverse career options within the tourism and hospitality industry. Visit Anaheim’s Workforce Development program will go to 15 different high schools in Anaheim and Garden Grove where business leaders from local hotels, event venues, transportation companies, and more will share their individual career path stories directly with students.
From hotel management to transportation maintenance to event planning, there are more than 750 career options in the tourism and hospitality industry. Workforce Development will give students an opportunity to network with industry professionals, participate in career fairs, and access educational resources, internships, and job opportunities.
“By fostering connections and providing guidance, Workforce Development is bridging the gap between our industry and our community,” said Christina Dawson, Senior Vice President, Operations, Visit Anaheim. “This program will inspire students to pursue careers within the tourism and hospitality field while cultivating a skilled and diverse future workforce.”
Tourism in Orange County is an economic powerhouse generating more than 164,000 jobs annually. With immense job opportunities available, Workforce Development will help fill the workforce pipeline for the industry.
